What happens when I buy a ticket online?

Once your order is complete, you will be emailed your ticket which will contain a barcode and booking reference number. Present this ticket on arrival, or if you don’t have a printer, simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you may also show your confirmation on screen.

I don't have a printer...

You do not have to print out the 8-digit booking reference – simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number and take it with you, coupled with some ID. If you have a smartphone, you may also show your confirmation on screen.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes we have suitable access. If you have any particular requirements please get in touch on 0113 285 9750 or you can email grasshoppers@tonggardencentre.co.uk.

How can I get in contact with Grass Hoppers?

Is there a loyalty card or discount available for Grass Hoppers?

Yes, we offer a FREEBEE card where your card is stamped once with every ice cream or hot drink purchased. Your 9th is a FREEBEE and valid for any regular hot drink or single cone ice cream.

What does my play time entry price to Grass Hoppers include?

Entry to Grass Hoppers provides access to all outside play equipment, the only exception being the coin-operated racing cars in Blaze's race track. In adverse weather conditions, for health and safety regulations, we reserve the right to close attractions or the outside playground.

Is there a limit on play time at Grass Hoppers?

All sessions are 1 hour and 45 minutes long, this applies to both weekdays and weekends.

You can book onto one of these time slots in advance to secure your space on your chosen session. Because we want to ensure all our customers have a great time, we suggest you arrive in good time for the start of a playtime session and ask that you exit the play area promptly at the end of your booking to allow our team to fully clean and prep the area for our next session.

Can I get a refund if we can't make a booked session at Grass Hoppers?

Tickets are only valid on the play date and playtime session that they were purchased for. You can transfer your booking to another date and/or time 2 hours in advance by contacting Grass Hoppers on 0113 285 9750 or email grasshoppers@tonggardencentre.co.uk. Refunds cannot be offered in the event of non-attendance for any missed bookings.

Is Grass Hoppers' breastfeeding friendly?

You are very welcome to breastfeed your baby whilst you are with us. In The Pod, we've introduced a mother and baby feeding corner for a little more privacy.

Are there any age, height or capacity restrictions on specific attractions at Grass Hoppers?

Attractions that have restrictions are signposted with clearly-stated rules for use, including maximum numbers of children. As the play is unsupervised, play is at own risk and disclaimer signage clearly states we can accept no responsibility for injury or loss howsoever caused.

How many adults can enter Grass Hoppers per booking?

For each child or under one we allow 2 FREE Adult tickets, in order to follow the guidance provided by the Government this will be strictly adhered to.

Can I purchase a ticket for Grass Hoppers on the day?

Tickets can only be purchased online up to the start of the session, therefore we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. It will not be possible to pay in person at the time of your visit.

Can I book onto more than one session at Grass Hoppers and stay for the duration of these?

You are welcome to pre-book onto multiple timed sessions per day, however all customers will need to exit Grass Hoppers at the end of each timed session so our team can clean and fully prepare the play area for the next session.

Who supervises the children in Grass Hoppers?

Parents/guardians remain responsible for and must supervise the children in their care at all times. Whether inside or outside, children must be supervised by an adult over 18 years of age who is responsible for their care for the duration of your vsit to Grass Hoppers. At no time can children be left in Grass Hoppers unattended.

Grass Hoppers accepts no liability for injuries incurred in the playground but will ensure the playground is safe and secure. Staff must report any damaged property immediately.

Can I bring a pushchair in Grass Hoppers?

Yes. We allow pushchairs and will offer a pram store for secure storing of a number of prams, during your play time.

Will we be able to buy food in Grass Hoppers?

Yes, Woody's Kitchen is open every day with refreshments and an all-day menu including pizzas, jacket potatoes and much more! We're also proud to serve award-winning ice cream in more than 30 flavours from the Ice Cream Farm.

Can we bring a picnic with us to Grass Hoppers?

Yes, you are still welcome to bring a picnic to eat in our designated picnic area which will be located in our outdoor playground. For health and safety, we don't allow glass bottles and barbeques are not permitted. Alcohol is also strictly forbidden in Grass Hoppers. Please note that we don't allow your own food or picnics to be eaten in Woody's Kitchen or any of the indoor play areas.

Can I leave and re-enter Grass Hoppers Play throughout the day with the same ticket?

Your Grass Hoppers admission ticket allows you to play on the specific date and playtime session of your booking. Should you wish to leave and return during that playtime session, we will stamp your hand and re-entry will be permitted. Entry to another playtime session is not permitted.

Is smoking permitted in or around Grass Hoppers or at Tong Garden Centre?

No. Tong Garden Centre and all its outdoor areas are smoke and vapour free zones. Smoking and vaping is not to be permitted within Grass Hoppers' indoor or outdoor areas.

What age is Grass Hoppers suitable for?

We think that children aged up to 10 years old will get the most out of Grass Hoppers. We have created a large indoor baby and toddler zone with role lay area as well as a designated outdoor play area for toddlers and preschool children.

Do you allow Dogs into Grass Hoppers?

We don't allow dogs unless they are special assistance or guide dogs. Please do not leave your dog in an unattended car.

Do you have any baby changing facilities at Grass Hoppers?

Grass Hoppers is a family attraction so we have massively improved our facilities and created a supersized changing room called The Pod with changing rooms and baby changing. In addition, and based on your valuable feedback, you'll also find we've added lots more toilets located inside, all in addition to the toilets already located in the outdoor playground. What's more, we've introduced a mother and baby feeding zone.

Can I reserve spaces in indoor play?

No. Unfortunately we cannot take reservations for tables however we have plenty of tables and seating available both indoors and outside.

Is there parking nearby Grass Hoppers?

Yes, Tong Garden Centre has a large car park with ample parking and an area close to the main entrance offering "Child Friendly" parking places too.

How are you keeping everyone safe?

As always, our priority is the safety of you and our team, so we have taken steps to ensure this continues to be the case.

  • We are minimising the number of children we allowed in to use the outdoor play area. (We previously allowed for 300+ into our outdoor play area, we are now only allowing up to 130 children in to enjoy the space)
  • Dedicated entrance and exit for Grass Hoppers
  • More sessions Monday to Saturday meaning less people on equipment
  • New food menu with a focus on quick takeaway options
  • Sanitising stations and regular cleaning of equipment
What are thes session times?

In order to give as many children as possible the opportunity to play, we have made the decision to offer four sessions per day, which are as follows:

  Monday - Saturday Sunday Session 1 09:00 - 10:45 09:45 - 11:30 Session 2 11:00 - 12:45 12:00 - 13:45 Session 3 13:15 - 15:00 14:15 - 16:00 Session 4 15:30 - 17:15  

 

 

 

 

How much is the cost per child?

The sessions will be £5 per child, per session. We were due to increase the original price (£5.75) from the 1st April, however given the current situation we will review that when we are able to fully re-open both indoor and outdoor play.

Although the sessions are shorter, we want to try and offer as much play opportunity to as many kids as we can, and by limiting the numbers we are giving more people the opportunity to play safely.

What about children under one?

Children under the age of one will still be free, and will we will still include these in our maximum numbers per session.

How many adults can enter?

Due to restrictions we have put in place, we have to be strict in the number of adults that accompany a child to a maximum of two adults, per child.

Will there be childminder / group discount?

As per our usual peak session policy, there be will no child minder or group discounts over summer.

How do I book for a session?

For the moment, while we operate slightly differently, we are only allowing online bookings for our sessions.

What is different in Grass Hoppers?

Upon arrival to the Garden Centre, keep an eye out for Grass Hoppers parking signage, as we have temporarily moved our entrance into Grass Hoppers, which will be from a gate at the rear of our Plant area. A member of our team will be there to welcome you and guide you safely through to the Grass Hoppers area shortly before your session is due to start.

Members of our team will be on hand to scan your booking confirmation so we can get you into the play area as quickly as possible to maximise your time with us.

At reception we’ll be asking every visitor to sanitise their hands.

Once inside, you’ll see that we’ve closed off our indoor play area, however you’ll still be able to take advantage of lots of seating outside. We have plenty of chairs and tables in our outdoor space for you to be able to relax and enjoy your visit with us.

What if it rains?

As we know, the Great British weather can be unpredictable, so we recommend you double check the weather forecast before making your booking as there will be a strict no refund policy. If we decide to close the play area in the event of very bad weather we will transfer your booking onto another session. We’ll keep you updated on our social media pages regarding this.

If you wish to cancel or move your booking, because you’ve seen the forecast is bad, you can do so up to 2 hours before the start of your session by contacting the team.

That said, we have put in place a large marquee to cover the seating area outside, which means that you can stay dry during the occasional shower.

If we do get a shower, don’t worry, our team will be on hand with some rainy-day activities to keep the little ones entertained.

However, should rain disrupt the majority (60 plus minutes) of your session, we will offer you a free play voucher.

Can I book the party room?

At the moment our party rooms will be closed to parties or group booking until we can safely reopen these.

What food / drink options are available?

We are pleased to announce that we will be re-opening Woody’s Kitchen, which will serve takeaway food options for all the family. Although there will be a limited menu compared to normal, there will be lots of your favourites still on there for you to enjoy in our environmentally friendly takeaway packaging.

When you are ready to place an order, just make your way to our till points. Due to the nature of what we’ll be serving, we aim to have everything with you within a few minutes.

We’ll also still be offering a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes, sweet treats as well as ice creams for you to enjoy. 

All food must be consumed outside, so we’ll provide some disposable cutlery and napkins for you.

We will still be accepting loyalty cards so you can continue to get a stamp for every ice cream and hot drink, as well as redeeming any completed cards.

Can I bring a picnic?

Yes, if you wish to bring your own food and drink, you can do so and enjoy this outside. However please remember that we do not allow glass or any other breakable crockery.

How many people can sit together?

We have created enough space to ensure everyone is at least two meters apart (at the moment) with tables able to accommodate up to 4 people. We kindly ask that tables are not moved around to keep everyone safe, so if you visit and bump into other households, then please respect the social distancing rules.

If any member of your party is unwell, prior to your visit, please contact us to rebook onto another session.

Can I enter the store once our session has finished?

As we are restricting and counting the number of people in store, we will have a separate entry and exit point for all our Grass Hoppers guests. If you wish to enter the store after/or before your Grass Hoppers visit, then we kindly ask that you queue with everyone else at the main store entrance.

What facilities are available?

Our toilets and baby changing facilities will be open and available. We just ask that everyone adheres to the guidance that we have in place.

We would also like to remind all customers that out outdoor play area is a no smoking area. If customers wish to smoke we kindly ask that you wait until you have left the store.
