What happens when I buy a ticket online?

Once your order is complete, you will be emailed your ticket which will contain a barcode and booking reference number. Present this ticket on arrival, or if you don’t have a printer, simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you may also show your confirmation on screen.

I don't have a printer...

You do not have to print out the 8-digit booking reference – simply make a note of the Booking Reference Number and take it with you, coupled with some ID. If you have a smartphone, you may also show your confirmation on screen.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes we have suitable access. If you have any particular requirements please get in touch on 0113 285 9750 or you can email grasshoppers@tonggardencentre.co.uk.

Is there a loyalty card or discount available for Grass Hoppers?

Yes, we offer a FREEBEE card where your card is stamped once with every ice cream or hot drink purchased. Your 9th is a FREEBEE and valid for any regular hot drink or single cone ice cream.

What does my play time entry price to Grass Hoppers include?

Entry to Grass Hoppers is an access all areas pass to play on all play equipment inside and outside, the only exception being the coin-operated racing cars in Blaze's race track and mini diggers. In adverse weather conditions, for health and safety regulations, we reserve the right to close attractions or the outside playground.

Is there a limit on play time at Grass Hoppers?

On a peak day playtime, we operate playtime sessions. Peak days are at weekends, Bank Holidays and weekdays during the school holidays. Given our location, it's good to know we include the school holidays and term times of the four local boroughs in our area, namely Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale.

A "peak" day playtime session will last two and a quarter hours on all peak days except on Sundays, when they will be slightly shorter due to Sunday trading laws imposed on the garden centre. At the end of each peak day playtime session, we will close for 30 minutes to get all the areas of Grass Hoppers, the toilets and restaurant ready for our next guests.

On "off peak play" play days, that is to say term time weekdays, we offer one playtime session with no specified start or end time, so capacity will be managed on an ongoing basis throughout the day.

You can book onto one of these time slots in advance to secure your space on your chosen session. Because we want to ensure all our customers have a great time, we suggest you arrive in good time for the start of a peak day playtime session and ask that you exit the play area promptly at the end of your booking to allow our team to fully clean and prep the area for our next session.

Can I get a refund if we can't make a booked session at Grass Hoppers?

Tickets are only valid on the play date and playtime session that they were purchased for. You can transfer your booking to another date and/or time 24 hours in advance by contacting Grass Hoppers on 0113 285 9750. Refunds cannot be offered in the event of non-attendance for any missed bookings.

Is Grass Hoppers' breastfeeding friendly?

You are very welcome to breastfeed your baby whilst you are with us. In The Pod, we've introduced a mother and baby feeding corner for a little more privacy.

Are there any age, height or capacity restrictions on specific attractions at Grass Hoppers?

Attractions that have restrictions are signposted with clearly-stated rules for use, including maximum numbers of children. As the play is unsupervised, play is at own risk and disclaimer signage clearly states we can accept no responsibility for injury or loss howsoever caused.

How many adults can enter Grass Hoppers per booking?

For each child or under one we allow 2 FREE Adult tickets. Any additional adults are subject to a £2.50 charge per adult which can be paid on entry at Grass Hoppers reception.

Can I purchase a ticket for Grass Hoppers on the day?

Yes, tickets can be purchased on the day at Grass Hopper's nut this is subject to availability, we cannot guarantee spaces will be available.

Can I book onto more than one session at Grass Hoppers and stay for the duration of these?

You are welcome to pre-book onto multiple timed sessions per day, however all customers will need to exit Grass Hoppers at the end of each timed session so our team can clean and fully prepare the play area for the next session.

Who supervises the children in Grass Hoppers?

Parents/guardians remain responsible for and must supervise the children in their care at all times. Whether inside or outside, children must be supervised by an adult over 18 years of age who is responsible for their care for the duration of your vsit to Grass Hoppers. At no time can children be left in Grass Hoppers unattended.

Grass Hoppers accepts no liability for injuries incurred in the playground but will ensure the playground is safe and secure. Staff must report any damaged property immediately.

Can I bring a pushchair in Grass Hoppers?

Yes. We allow pushchairs and will offer a pram store for secure storing of a number of prams, during your play time.

Will we be able to buy food in Grass Hoppers?

Yes, Woody's Kitchen is open every day with refreshments and an all-day menu including pizzas, paninis, jacket potatoes and much more! We're also proud to serve award-winning ice cream in more than 30 flavours from the Ice Cream Farm.

Can we bring a picnic with us to Grass Hoppers?

Yes, you are still welcome to bring a picnic to eat in our designated picnic area which will be located in our outdoor playground. For health and safety, we don't allow glass bottles and barbeques are not permitted. Alcohol is also strictly forbidden in Grass Hoppers. Please note that we don't allow your own food or picnics to be eaten in Woody's Kitchen or any of the indoor play areas.

Can I leave and re-enter Grass Hoppers Play throughout the day with the same ticket?

Your Grass Hoppers admission ticket allows you to play on the specific date and playtime session of your booking. Should you wish to leave and return during that playtime session, we will stamp your hand and re-entry will be permitted. Entry to another playtime session is not permitted.

Is smoking permitted in or around Grass Hoppers or at Tong Garden Centre?

No. Tong Garden Centre and all its outdoor areas are smoke and vapour free zones. Smoking and vaping is not to be permitted within Grass Hoppers' indoor or outdoor areas.

What age is Grass Hoppers suitable for?

We think that children aged up to 10 years old will get the most out of Grass Hoppers. We have created a large indoor baby and toddler zone with role lay area as well as a designated outdoor play area for toddlers and preschool children.

Do you allow Dogs into Grass Hoppers?

We don't allow dogs unless they are special assistance or guide dogs. Please do not leave your dog in an unattended car.

Do you have any baby changing facilities at Grass Hoppers?

Grass Hoppers is a family attraction so we have massively improved our facilities and created a supersized changing room called The Pod with changing rooms and baby changing. In addition, and based on your valuable feedback, you'll also find we've added lots more toilets located inside, all in addition to the toilets already located in the outdoor playground. What's more, we've introduced a mother and baby feeding zone.

Can I reserve spaces in indoor play?

No. Unfortunately we cannot take reservations for tables however we have plenty of tables and seating available both indoors and outside.

Is there parking nearby Grass Hoppers?

Yes, Tong Garden Centre has a large car park with ample parking and an area close to the main entrance offering "Child Friendly" parking places too.

I booked a time slot for the Grotto but can't make it, can I change it?

Unfortunately bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

How long does the Grotto experience last?

Each session lasts about 30 minutes and will start at specific times (this will be specified online when booking and on your ticket when booked). As each session can have others booked on it we will not be able to delay the start time so please ensure you allow plenty of time to travel and park, as we do get busy - particularly at weekends and during Christmas week.

Can I cancel my booking for the Grotto?

Unfortunately once a booking has been made, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

My ticket for the Grotto has not arrived - what should I do?

You will receive your automated ticket(s) by email immediately following a successful payment. If you do not receive your ticket(s) please call 0113 285 3506 or email enquiries@tonggardencentre.co.uk. We do encourage you to check your Junk Folder just in case.

Can I purchase a ticket in-store or on the day for the Grotto?

You can book in-store at Customer Services only. However, we strongly recommend booking prior to the day you want to visit as we can't guarantee session availability on the day. As we get closer to Christmas, due to popularity, sessions book up very quickly. We encourage you to book your session online in advance to avoid disappointment.

Where is the Grotto?

The Grotto is situated towards the back of the Garden Centre, just next to our Grass Hoppers play area. Once you enter the main entrance, head towards the restaurant and turn left, heading outside, then you will find it. We have plenty of signs in place though which will help and our team will be able to help you.

Is there an adult charge to enter the Grotto?

Each child grotto ticket booking has an allocation of two adults per child free of charge - all adults attending must have a valid ticket. Additional adult tickets can be purchased on the day for £2.50 each but is subject to availability on that session.  

Is there a limit to the amount of adult tickets I can purchase for the Grotto?

A maximum of two adults per child ticket will be permitted free of charge and must have a valid ticket - for example a booking of two children can have a maximum of four adult tickets. Additional adult tickets can be purchased at the Grotto on the day for £2.50 each but is subject to availability on that session. For Health and Safety reasons we do have to limit the total number of adults permitted within a session and we are therefore unable to exceed this limit.

Do you issue refunds for Grotto bookings?

Bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable. 

I am running late and I have missed my slot for the Grotto, can I go on the next one?

Unfortunately bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable. We strongly urge you to allow adequate travel and parking time before visiting the Grotto, as we are also unable to delay the start time of any of our sessions. We allow capacity for 12 children on each session so therefore adding anyone else on last minute will impact on health and safety.
